Illuminating Growth in Composting Access + Processing Through Data
Nora Goldstein of BioCycle presents the 2017 State of Organics Recycling in the U.S. report, with new composting and anaerobic digestion infrastructure data. The report also provides 2017 numbers on the tons of organics recycled and state programs and policies that support composting and anaerobic digestion. The information is a ‘snapshot in time’ of states’ organics recycling activities.
Brenda Platt, Co-Director of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR), and Virginia Streeter, Research Associate for ILSR’s Composting for Community project, sheds light on the methodology and findings of BioCycle’s Residential Food Waste Collection In The U.S. A periodic survey of municipal curbside organics collection programs, Brenda and Virginia will explore the quantitative and qualitative changes since the survey was last conducted in 2015.
